For Chantix and Ambien, Ads That Dare Not Speak the Drugs� Names

Name a prescription drug in a TV ad, and you also take to name all the side effects.

But if you talk about a condition rather than a drug, you can dispense with the side-effect blab out and transmit people to a Web site � which in turn promotes your drug.

So-called �unbranded mathematical product advertising� has been around for a while. But with direct-to-consumer drug ads facing scrutiny recently, the soft sell is having a revival, the WSJ reports.

In a single week, Sanofi-Aventis�s �silence your rooster� ads (pictured) drove 400,000 people to this Web site that advertises the company�s sleeping pill Ambien.

And Pfizer, whose smoking-cessation drug Chantix has come under scrutiny for psychiatric side effects, has recently revived ads that send people to mytimetoquit.com.

The site gives readers lots of options to �learn about a prescription treatment option� � which turns out to mean clicking through to the Chantix Web site.

The campaign isn�t designed to circumvent FDA rules, Pfizer spokeswoman Sally Beatty tells the WSJ. �My Time to Quit is designed to encourage people who are thinking about quitting to speak to their health-care provider about the benefits of quitting smoking and available treatment options,� she said.

A documentary featuring Jack White, The Edge and Jimmy Page is set to puzzle its worldly concern premiere adjacent month at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival.

Directed by David Guggenheim, �??It Might Get Loud�?? tells the stories of the trey guitarists and their journeys as they developed how they played the electric guitar to create their own earmark style.

The film focuses on a single day when the triad met and discuss with one another the stories of their history, what motivates and inspires them to write and play their instrument.

New music from each musician is played throughout the documentary, and feature scenes in London, Nashville and Dublin.

Each artist cites his main influences, discussing albums from The Edge�??s Sex Pistols criminal record to Flat Duo Jets�?? �??Go-Go Harlem Baby�??, which was a major influence on Jack White.

Meanwhile former Flat Duo Jets frontman Dex Romweber will embark on a term of enlistment this September with The Dex Romweber duo.

Teamsters Urge Singer Kenny Chesney: Speak Out Against Corona's Pension Cuts

Proposed Contract Eliminates Employee Pensions

SAN FRANCISCO, June 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Workers from Corona
beer distributor DBI San Francisco passed out fliers at a concert by
country music singer Kenny Chesney yesterday. San Francisco area workers at
DBI corporation, a Corona beer distributor and sponsor of the concert,
protested DBI's plan to eliminate their pensions. Approximately one hundred
employees represented by Teamsters Local Union 278 have been negotiating
with DBI officials since late February, 2008.

"Chesney's lyrics speak of down-to-earth themes such as tractor
driving, barefoot walking, and hardworking, family-loving folks," said
Chuck Mack, President of Teamsters Joint Council 7 and International Vice
President. "America's working families identify with him and vice-versa. We
urge him to encourage Corona's San Francisco distributor not to take away
the dignified retirement employees worked hard to earn."

The contract being pushed by DBI would eliminate worker's retirement
plans and leave them with no retirement security. The flier also
highlighted news coverage of Corona's laying off of more than 250 workers
in Mexico for forming an independent union.

"We'll continue to take our message to DBI and Corona until we reach a
fair contract that allows our workers to retire with dignity," said Terry
McHugh, business agent with Teamsters Local 278.

'EastEnders' actress Babita Pohoomull, who plays beautician Preeti Choraria in the soap, is leaving the show early next year, it has been announced.
Pohoomull joined the programme just over a year ago, since then her character has briefly had relationships with Sean and Bradley.
According to Digitalspy, show producers decided to let the character go after she failed to make an impression on the audience.
A BBC spokesperson said: "Preeti will leave Albert Square in early 2008. We wish Babita all the best in her career."
Preeti will leave Walford after Mickey rejects her and she decides that there is nothing left for her in Albert Square.

Pop star JESSICA SIMPSON is convinced her sister ASHLEE SIMPSON-WENTZ will make a great parent - because she "inspires love" in those around her.

Singer Ashlee Simpson - who wed rocker Pete Wentz last month (17May08) - finally confirmed she is expecting her first child with the Fall Out Boy star last Thursday (29May08) after being dogged by pregnancy rumours for weeks.

And 27-year-old Jessica has no doubt her younger sibling, 23, will take to parenthood with ease.

She tells People.com, "She'll be amazing, absolutely amazing.

"They're just the cutest couple in the world. They are adorable. Anybody would wish to be them and you can only wish them well. Just being around them inspires love and everything I sing about."

Glastonbury headliners revealed

Jay Z, Kings of Leon and The Verve have been announced as this year's Glastonbury headliners.
Following months of speculation, in which Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen and Led Zeppelin were rumoured to play on the Pyramid stage, the headliners were finally disclosed yesterday.
Kings of Leon will headline on Friday night; Jay Z on Saturday; and The Verve will close the festival on Sunday evening.
Other acts also confirmed to play are CSS, Neil Diamond and Hot Chip. The Guardian is also reporting that Leonard Cohen will perform on stage for the first time in 14 years.
Of the headliners, organiser Emily Eavis said: "We're absolutely thrilled to have them. The Verve are a classic Glastonbury band who've played some amazing sets at the festival over the years. Now that they're back together again, playing brilliant shows, we've finally got them doing the headline slot that they always deserved. I can't wait."
She continued: "Jay-Z is coming all the way over from New York especially to play the festival. It's a real coup for us. He might seem like a slightly unusual choice for Glastonbury, but we've never just gone for the obvious acts and we're so honoured to have one of the most talented and respected musicians on the planet coming to the farm. He's an amazing artist and an incredible live act. I think he's going to blow people away."
She added: "That leaves Kings of Leon. They've come through the ranks at Glastonbury since they rocked the New Bands Tent in 2003. We think they're one of the most exciting live bands out there right now and that they're ready to make the leap to join a great heritage of Friday night headliners which includes Coldplay and White Stripes."
The full line-up for the Festival will be announced in June with the three-day event taking place from 27 to 29 June.
Fans who want one of the 137,500 tickets on offer must provide contact details and a passport photo in order to receive a registration number.
The number does not guarantee entry to the festival at Worthy Farm in Pilton, however fans will not be able to buy a ticket without one.
They have until Friday 14 March to register their interest via the festival's website. Tickets will then go on sale on Sunday 6 April.

She tells the new issue of Allure magazine, "The faxes went out from the producers and the director to my agents to my manager to call me and ask me to lose weight.

"I just remember sitting in my trailer hysterically crying from the embarrassment I felt about myself, my body - and that no one could talk to me directly."

Foo Fighters - Foo Fighter Hawkins Replaces Wilson On Tribute Track

FOO FIGHTERS star TAYLOR HAWKINS is set to take the place of late THE BEACH BOYS drummer DENNIS WILSON on an upcoming commemorative single.

Hawkins will provide vocals for Holy Man, which will feature on an updated version of Wilson's 1977 acclaimed solo album Pacific Ocean Blue, which will be released in the U.S. on 9 June (08).

The single is slated for release on the same day as the reissued double-CD LP, which will act as a tribute to the star, who died in 1983 after drowning at Los Angeles' Marina Del Rey.

And Gregg Jokobson, who co-wrote and co-produced the original album, insists the Foo Fighters drummer was an obvious choice to replace Wilson, because of his similar sounding vocal talents.

He says, "I always said, 'Taylor, you sound just like Dennis.' Taylor is just a natural. He came in, he did the vocal within an hour and I really think he knocked it out of the park."

Incubus played a hit laden set on the Main Stage at Download Festival this evening (June 14).

The Californian rockers ran through a selection of hits from their back catalogue including �??Are You In?�?? and �??Wish You Were Here�??.

Singer Brandon Boyd, who was dressed in a baggy white vest, was on jovial form as he joked with the crowd, �??Is the beer cheap enough? No oh well did you bring your own?�?�

Later he also spotted a giant hot dog stand at the back of the stage and jibed: �??There is a giant hotdog in the corner if you�??re hungry.�?�

The singer spent much of the set hammering on a set of bongos before getting the crowd to take up vocal duties on �??Pistola�??.

At the end of the set he ripped his vest off and sang 'Crow' on his knees.

All Out War continued to reinforce the sound of New York hardcore by hybridizing genres of metallic element and thug that influentially take out from Slayer, Agnostic Front, the Cro-Mags, and Sick of It All. Upon their formation in the early '90s, the metalcore outfit recorded some demos and the 7" Destined to Burn, and played out shows locally about Newburgh and downward in N.Y.C. Erik Carrillo (bass), Brad Mader (guitar), Taras Apuzzo (guitar), Matt Byrne (drums), and Mike Score (vocals) released their number 1 album, Truth in the Age of Lies, on the German mark Gain Ground in 1997 and embarked on their number 1 enlistment. The band (whose lineup shuffled throughout its vocation) would finally give the chance to portion the stage with Deicide, Agnostic Front, Napalm Death, and Earth Crisis, among others. Chicago-based Victory Records put out All Out War's followup, For Those Who Were Crucified, in 1998. Tours with Buried Alive, Reach the Sky, and Shadows Fall followed, and after an appearance at the New England Metal Fest in 2001, All Out War skint up. They resurfaced two days after for a benefit evidence at CBGB, which in the end light-emitting diode to a new album for Victory that fall entitled Condemned to Suffer. By then, Score and Apuzzo were completed by bassist Andy Pietrolungo, drummer Jesse Sutherland, and guitar player Jose Segarca. That lineup only lasted long enough for a two-week European spell and a bust of dates with Misery Signals before things went sour; everyone only Score left wing to form Nerve Gas Tragedy. Score eventually welcomed early members Jim Antonelli (guitar) and Erik Carrillo (bass) and longtime friends Jim Bremer (guitar) and Lou Iuzzini (drums) into the All Out War fold; together the quintet recorded April 2007's Assassins in the House of God.
